Life Root Farm

A peek at 2024.

Last year we did our first trial run of growing seeds for a small seed farm in Minnesota. At the end of the year the seed farm came here to see our property and to review the seeds we had collected for them. They were so impressed. We had a few mistakes and failures but they were beyond gracious with us. They showed us our mistakes and taught us how to correct. We sent them home with an SUV full of seeds. I mean FULL of seeds.

We saved all these seeds on top of harvesting/delivering produce boxes and Saturday Farmer’s Markets. When they came back this fall to see us they asked us how it went. We were completely honest with them. We told them we were exhausted more then we knew exhausted could feel like. We had signed up for too much. They smiled and said, we were hoping you would get there.

They knew! They knew we could not juggle all three: produce boxes, markets and saving seeds. They had tried similar journeys. They let us figure this out for ourselves. I am so thankful it only took us one season!!

As hard as it was. As exhausted as we were. It still doesn’t make it easy to close doors. We can not keep all three doors open. We will not be able to do produce boxes and markets in 2024. We have to close those two doors and focus on growing seeds for this Minnesota seed farm.

Am I sad? Yup. Am I scared? Yup. Is this hard? Yes! Am I so excited to see what the year brings? Absolutely!! Am I beyond thankful for the time we had putting produce boxes together for you all? Beyond thankful!!

Now wait!! Don’t run away just yet! I am still going to have produce!! If local, fresh, chemical free produce is a must for you and your family - we will still have produce to sell. When the season gets closer and the produce starts coming in we will work out how you can still get produce from us. It may look like coming out to the farm or to our roadside stand. A little more effort on your side, but fresh is so worth the effort.

Again. So thankful for each of you. So thankful that I can pour my heart out and speak the hard with you. Thank you for allowing us to take this sharp turn and pursue this next chapter for our farm.
