Life Root Farm is a small family owned organic heirloom seed & produce farm in Wisconsin where each one of us is involved and works on the farm. Yes, you will find our youngest out here cracking open dried beans to collect the seeds.

The intense flavor and colors of heirloom seeds are lost upon consumers. Just start with one heirloom tomato and you will find yourself going back to try more. It is how we were converted but we started with 15 heirloom tomato varieties. We love sharing these seeds and converting your home gardens into intense flavor bursts with heirloom seeds!

I am Dr. Jesse Frey, a licensed clinical psychologist. I was born and raised on a dairy farm. As a boy I loved that lifestyle, it taught me so much about life. I have many good farm stories, about the trouble, I found myself in. I believe that farm life is therapeutic for the mind, body, and soul.

As a licensed psychologist for over a decade, I have found spending long days in an office to be hard on my mind and body. I longed for a different way, I needed balance. I needed to return to the roots of life. I believe that nature is therapeutic because it connects us to our creator. I believe working in the soil is therapeutic because it is life-producing and sustaining.

As a husband, father, and psychologist I needed to restore balance to my life and that is why my wife Lynn and I have created Life Root Farm. I believe that many people have become disconnected from how to truly live, and it is wreaking havoc on our minds, body, and souls.

We hope that our balanced lifestyle will help you find balance too.

I am Lynn and I grew up watching my Mom take care of her flower beds. She would walk with us around the yard and tell us the name of every single flower and would ask us, "Will you enjoy gardens when you grow up?" I straight-faced told her no. This was not going to be my future. 10 years later when we bought our first home the first thing I did was go to my Mom's and request some of her flowers for our new home. She had instilled a love of gardening in me after all. I even felt the need and desire to grow food for my family.

Working in the soil melts the every day needs and burdens away. Weeding can be so therapeutic to me after a day of teaching the kids. There is also something about walking the garden paths with your kids and letting them just grab what they see and eating it fresh.

Jesse and I have 4 children who are right there with us working beside us. It is so natural for us and our kids to help each other out and work together. Working together, working the land, learning together, draws our family together and keeps us grounded to the roots of life.
